possible wifi compatibility issue - ESP8266 and ESP32

Postby mentaluproar » Wed Jun 19, 2019 4:20 am

I was having problems with the bluetooth devices in my home. I went into my router settings and enabled bluetooth coexistence. All problems went away (man, it took me forever to figure out it was the router) except a project I built around the esp8266 no longer maintains a stable connection. Until I turn off bluetooth coexistence, and I mean completely off (neither "enabled" nor "preemptive" can be selected), I can't get the project to work. The router sees the 8266, but I can't access the webUI on it.

So I tried using a esp32. Similar issue. I cannot access it at all with bluetooth coexistence active. Instead, it creates an AP of its own for me to connect to. It's only supposed to do that if it fails to connect to whatever is stored in EEPROM. From settings, I can see the EEPROM is retaining settings.

I figured this was a problem with the router at first, but the ESPs are literally the only things that bug out when I use bluetooth coexistence on the router. What is going on?

The router is an Asus RT-AC3100 running Merlin-WRT 384.11_2. The ESPs were both flash from platformio using the current stable ESP Arduino code, 1.8.0. The project is using Aircookie's WLED, slightly tweaked to compile with 1.8.0 instead of the default 1.7.0, to resolve a known wifi problem on the ESP32 with 1.7.0.
