Station and Access Point mode of Wifi

Hi,

Does Station and access point mode have interconnection in ESP 32??

I am running both in my code and when I switch off the router, Station as well as access point get lost and both of the mode assigns ip when router is reconnected.

Please tell the relation between both. Its very urgent.
