ESP32 reboots with WiFi scripts.

Postby maddinkunze » Thu Jan 03, 2019 5:48 pm

Hey there,

My ESP32 hangs up everytime I load a script needing WiFi. When it's finished with uploading it reboots all the time and the red LED flickers. At last i connected GPIO0 to GND so it automatically loads the esptool.py bootloader, then i reseted the memory using esptool, but except that the LED doesn't flicker anymore, it still wont work.

Scripts without WiFi are working, like the blink program.

Here are the four possibilities:
1. non-WiFi script without GPIO0 at GND
Everything works, red LED lights as normal
2. WiFi script without GPIO0 at GND
Computer writes script to ESP, ESP disconnect itself, Computer wont connect to board, red LED flickers, WiFi not available
3. non-WiFi script with GPIO0 at GND
Script loads as normal but runs only if I reboot the ESP without GPIO0-GND
4. WiFi script with GPIO0 at GND
same as 3, but after reboot the LED flickers, WiFi not available and the Computer wont connect to the board

Everytime the LED flickers, i have to disconnect the board from the computer, reconnect GPIO0-GND and then attach the board to the computer again.

Maybe need to know: Yesterday I connected a sensor to my ESP but with the wrong polarity and with the ESP there was a small plume.

Thanks,
Maddin

P.S. Sorry for my bad English, im a student from Germany... :)

Maybe you just have a problem with your power supply, and the ESP browns out?
Did you put a capacitor between +Vcc and Gnd?
