access point network repeatedly appears and disappears

I have a NodeMCU esp32 board and i'm using it as both an access point and server. I have been connecting to the access point(ap) with different devices. Now of late, every time i connect to the ap using different devices, the ap network keeps appearing and disappearing after a few seconds which repeatedly connects and disconnects the connected device. My board is always connected to a regulated supply power of 5v. So i decided to disconnect the board from the 5v power supply and reconnect it and now the problem has disappeared. My fear is that this solution is temporary and the problem will come again. What would be the cause of this problem?

Have you checked if the device is rebooting due to a program crash?
