Battery monitor?

Ive been working trying to learn more about the esp32 does and ran across the battery monitor.

And i dont understand how it works. Do i need to add a wire to a pin on the battery to the board?

How does it indicate battery life?

Is there a way to see it on a tft?

Where can i find example code?
