[resolved] Why ESP32-S3 on Mouser shows ECCN:5A002.A ?
[resolved] Why ESP32-S3 on Mouser shows ECCN:5A002.A ?
Below is the link, check Product Compilance section, it shows "ECCN:5A002.A"
https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Es ... ihNw%3D%3D
Can someone from espressif confirm if this is a mistake or it's really need to be 5A002.A for some reason?
This was asked on : https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/11545

Re: Why ESP32-S3 on Mouser shows ECCN:5A002.A ?
ECCN is an export license code issued by BIS of the United State. In fact, all Espressif's products share similar encryption techniques and we received results with 5A992.c from BIS for almost all chipsets and modules in the past. However, the US assigned another code 5A002.a for S3 modules for unknown reason when we submitted classification request for S3. We think that may be a wrong determination and we are preparing to clarify and resubmit the application for S3 in the near future.

Hi @ESP_Eavo this is creating a big issue for us, can we have this resolved ASAP?
Re: Why ESP32-S3 on Mouser shows ECCN:5A002.A ?
Dear,
The Espressif team has resubmitted applications for ESP32-S3 chip and modules to BIS of the United State. But it will take some uncertain time to get results from BIS.
If you have any urgent cases, big issues, please kindly write to yangxi@espressif.com and let me know the problems and your situation. We will try if any more we can do to help. thanks.

hi Axellin,
Sorry for the delayed response as I haven't been active on the forum recently and missed your messages.
As of last August, we resubmitted applications for various products, including ESP32-S3 chips and ESP32-S3 modules. And we have been waiting for the evaluation results from the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) in the United States. The latest update suggests that we might receive a response in this month. I will keep you posted if there are any updates.
Additionally, could you please let us know the country in which you are located and how the ECCN(5A002.A) may impact your projects?

About detailed information, please feel free to send to my emails. yangxi@espressif.com
For your reference-
Based on the 2021 BIS results, ESP32-S3 development boards, which are embedded with the ESP32-S3 series chip or ESP32-S3 series modules, are classified as 5A992.c. If this might be useful for you, I can send the document to you by email.

@yangxi
So do you get update from the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) in the United States?
(In your previous reply, you were waiting for the response from BIS)
If you confirm ESP32S3 is classified as ECCN:5A002.C, you should inform Mouser to correct it.
We need to know the correct ECCN so we can follow the export rules.
This is important when selling devices world wide.

Re: Why ESP32-S3 on Mouser shows ECCN:5A002.A ?
hi Axellin,
We reasonably infer that the classification for the ESP32-S3 modules should be 5A992.c.
The following are brief reasons:
1.Most of our previous chips and modules, as well as recent new ones, are classified as 5A992.c.
The difference between ESP32-S3 and other chips and modules are not such great as to affect the classification.
2.The ESP32-S3 development board is classified as 5A992.c b y BIS. Logically, the ESP32-S3 module and chip, which is a part of the ESP32-S3 development board, should also be classified as 5A992.c.
Therefore, it's unreasonable and illogical to classify the S3 module as 5A002.c. We have resubmitted the application for ESP32-S3 modules, and are currently awaiting the results from BIS.
What needs to be added, although BIS ever classified the S3 module as 5A002.c, they are AUTHORIZED FOR LICENSE EXCEPTION ENC by BIS at the same time.
