Renaming of file on SD card from application on ESP32

I would like to rename a file on an SD card from within my application without the need to extract the card.
The app is a type of data logger that logs various sensor data to a 'working file' which is created at the start of a production day.
At the start of a new day, I would like to rename the working file for later export, and create a new one.
