I have not been able to connect ESP32 NodeMCU to a Samsung S7 mobile HotSpot (Tethering). The same HotSpot can be connected to with a Lenovo laptop running Windows 10. I configured the S7 for both Open and WPA2_PSK modes. I also ran a WiFi scan from the ESP32 and could "see" the AP (HotSpot-S7). I had no problem connecting to a Samsung Galaxy J7+ using the same configuration.
WiFi Scan:
1: HotSpot-S7 (-35) WPA2_PSK
AE:5F:3E:6A:18:2A, ch 6
2: Galaxy-J7 (-59) WPA2_PSK
DE:44:B6:14:99:03, ch 6
1: Samsung Gaxaxy S7, model SM-G930FD, Android 7.0 <= does not connect
2: Samsung J7+, model SM-C710F/DS, Android 7.1 <= connect OK, no problem,
Unable to connect to a Samsung S7 HotSpot (Tethering)
