Looking at the new OTA functions contained in "esp_ota_ops.h" I am wondering if there will be an accompanying programmers guide or architecture guide to be used as a companion to these raw APIs to explain them in more detail? As I read them I have questions and guesses and rather than post those here, I'll be happy to be patient if there is an anticipation of more docs in the offing.

We don't have a guide written for this part of API. Maybe I can answer your questions, and then you could write a portion of API guide related to OTA, and submit it into ESP-IDF as a PR?
