idf.py monitor configuration

Hi All,

I am working with the Advanced example code. I would like to use a third-party serial terminal app such as putty or another.
I can use idf.py monitor to interface with the console of the esp32. But when I try to use putty or coolterm etc. I get the following error:
E (51775) example: Error or end-of-input, terminating console
I (51775) main_task: Returned from app_main()

I have looked over the Espressif article on IDF Monitor, I have looked for esp-idf-monitor.cfg and searched for the label [esp-idf-monitor]
Cannot find any config files.

Does anyone know the serial settings for putty so I can configure putty to work with the advanced console app.
I have tried changing several parameters but still get the above errors.
