Hi there,

has anyone connected such display (https://www.smart-prototyping.com/LCD-d ... 12864.html) to the ESP32? Is there some publicly available library or example code?

A quick search didn't produce any results. Translating some Raspberry or Arduino code shouldn't be too hard but I would be surprised if I were the first to try.

Best,
Daniel

It is not hard to drive such a display, but is it worth the effort, for half that price you can get TFT color display with touch screen ...

Hi loboris,

thanks for he reply. Connecting a TFT via SPI works but I still like the look of the monochrome LCDs. I gave up on this specific device nevertheless. It would need some modifications to run on 3.3v signals and the codeing needed seems a bit laborious.

If someone has an easy solution for the software driving a 12864 I would still be interested.

Thanks,
Daniel

I also like the monochrome displays.
Lately I've been using some ePaper displays which are excellent choice if you don't need fast refresh, and quite easy to interface ...

Tested with Waveshare displays http://www.waveshare.com/product/module ... -paper.htm

As an alternative you can use one of many available oled displays which can even be driven by I2C ...
