CONFIG_PARTITION_TABLE_MD5 still treated incorrectly in 4.0-beta2

In a post about two months ago,

it was noted that 4.0-beta1 inverts the use of CONFIG_PARTITION_TABLE_MD5. I.e., setting it to 'n' causes the MD5 to be appended to partition table bin file. And setting to 'y' creates partition table without MD5 hash.
I was hoping this will be fixed in 4.0 release IDF. It seems to NOT be fixed in 4.0-beta2.
What is the status of getting this fix into 4.0?
Thanks!
