Hi there,

I'm trying to install esp-idf-tools-setup-2.1.exe on my Windows 10, 64-bit PC running as Administrator.

During the installation process I get the following error and cannot continue:

Path = C:\Users\Spero-Colyvas\.espressif\releases\esp-idf-v3.3.zip
Type = zip
ERRORS:
Unexpected end of archive
Physical Size = 192052138
Characteristics = Local

Has anyone seen this before - any ideas what the problem could be?

Hi,

The installer doesn't include any ESP-IDF versions, but it can optionally download ESP-IDF as part of the install - it looks like that's what it was doing in this case.

It looks like maybe the download failed part way through, "PhysicalSize = 192052138" is smaller than the 350MB size of this zip file.

It's possible we can do something in the installer to better detect download failures, but in the meantime I'd recommend trying again and seeing if the download succeeds the second time. If it still doesn't work then it's possible to skip this step in the installer and then download ESP-IDF from the Releases page on GitHub: https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/releases/

I think there might be something wrong with the linked version? I tried several times with the current version but it failed every time. When I selected the previous version it worked right away.

Hi. Myself facing same install issue, I think the installer does not check correctly neither retry to download or warn the user if the esp-idf zip file is not correctly downloaded.
After check the log and find the issue and where it downloads the idf zip file, I manually downlaoded same release into that folder and rerun the installer that went well after that.

The same problem ocurred to me (Windows 10).
My solution to this was to delete all files of directory "C:\Users\User_name\Desktop\esp-idf
And run the setup again.
