esp_bt_controller_init returns invalid state

Hey everyone,
In my current program esp_bt_controller_init returns invalid state error when it is called after waking up from sleep, but this only happens about 1/3 times after a fresh reboot. What are some possible causes of this? (I can't seem to find the source for this function so having trouble debugging)
