Are hardware timers blocked by watchdogs ?

As seen in ..../docs/api/wdts.rst,
Task watchdog and interrupt watchdog are built around hardware timers in group0 and group1
Does this have any effect on use of timers as in ..../examples/13_timer_group
Are timers free available for applications, or are they already used for watchdogs ?
