Does the ESP32-WROOM-32 come without AT commands by default?

Hello,

I've purchased a bluetooth module ESP32-WROOM-32 and looking at the users guide and the AT commands guide I'm not sure if the module comes with no functionality and in order to be able to use the module via serial communication it is mandatory to first download the AT firmware and upload it into the flash memory.

If it does not come with basic AT functionality by default,
1) Do you know if it is possible to acquire the module with AT firmware installed directly from the manufacturer or distributor?
2) Is there any way yo use the module as a modem so my microcontroller can communicate via Bluetooth using a serial communications port?
