I am currently exploring the use of ESP-Wifi-Mesh for a possible industrial application.
The requirements would be to not have a Wifi router (i.e. the mesh is used only to connect all devices with eachother and communicate with eachother). I was able to get a no-router setup working by using a fixed root and setting one device as root.
However, I need to be able to change root dynamically during operation. If I manually set a different node as root then the mesh does not organize itself properly and messages are no longer getting received to the newly made root.
What is the correct procedure to set a new root node dynamically when using a no-router (and thus no voting) setup ? Or is this not possible ?
[ESP-Wifi-Mesh] No-router mode changing root dynamically
Re: [ESP-Wifi-Mesh] No-router mode changing root dynamically
facing similar result. the root is disconnecting from gsm modem and becomes hanging root. mesh recovered parcially. real challanging.
are you using mdf ? what version ?

Has anyone been able to solve this? I am facing the same issues.

Re: [ESP-Wifi-Mesh] No-router mode changing root dynamically
Well, a really simplistic alternative is to have a single esp32xxxx acting as a soft AP and hence a router with a known ssid. Will do nothing but the mesh will see this ssid and start as usual even when a root node dies and a new one gets root status. It’s dumb but works. I’ve read of VERY complicated ways to have a Non Router mesh (google it) but it seems difficulty and complex and not very reliable.
