Migration issues 5.0.4 <-> 5.1.2 with example projects

I am reaching out because we have a long term project started with IDF 4.4 and migrated up to 5.0.1. So this was the last IDF version running fine with our code. Due to new computer setup 5.0.1 is no longer available and our firmware does not even work with 5.0.4 without deeper investigation and debugging.

So we are thinking to migrate to the latest 5.1.2.

To get an idea why our firmware is not running on 5.0.4 I played around with the simple server example and I found that changing the IDF version is not possible even with the example project. The simple server example from IDF 5.0.4 does not connect WiFi under 5.1.2 and vise versa.

We are interested in any hint why or what are the difference in the wifi connect code that we experience this behavior.

Our long term project, last running fine under 5.0.1 does not even start up to the first brake point in main()
