ESP's Wi-Fi Provisioning based on SoftAP. How it works.

From my understanding,

Esp's Wi-Fi Provisioning manager
#1. Creates Softap in softap+sta (APSTA) mode and httpd server
#2. Scan for wifi network ( As wifi mode is APSTA, no problem in Scanning).
#3. After receiving credentials it switches to STA modes and connects to wifi.

if the above is correct, app and device will loose communication, but how can app able to receive the wifi connection status even after it siwtches to STA mode.

Can anyone please explain me how wifi provisioning works. I read all the documentation and example but can't able to figure it out.
