S2 autobaud register settings

Hi there, I am reaching out in the hope to get more info on the behavior of the auto baud functionality of the S2 SOC.
I found very little sample code on this, but in this code the interrupts are disabled during the auto baud process.
However, I can not find any information in the TRM if this is required. By logic I do not see any requirements for this. It seems like it is possible to measure the timings between the pulses at any time during normal operation.
Anybody knowledge or opinion on this?
