Detect how far away other esp device is on powerline

Hi guys

Our company has the idea of allowing communication of two or more esp32 via powerline. While this should be possible (?) is it also possible to measure relative distances of esp32 in terms of powerline length in between the receiving connectors? Is there maybe already such a solution? I was curious if this possibility exists because I don't know if the time granularity of the measurements will allow for decisive statements in that regard.

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be helpful!
