ESP32-S3-DEVKITC-1 ESD Protection

Hi,

I am designing an own development board and was wondering about the ESD protection on the esp32-s3-devkitC-1 schematic:
https://dl.espressif.com/dl/schematics/ ... 220413.pdf

For VBUS, D+ and D- a LESD5D5.0CT1G (https://datasheet.lcsc.com/lcsc/1912111 ... 383211.pdf) is used. But D+ and D- are +3.3V level and VBUS 5.0V. And the LESD5D5.0CT1G has V_RWM of 5V.

Is it save to use the LESD5D5.0CT1G for all the lines? Or should I consider to have a different one for the D+ and D- lines? For example I could use a LESD11D3.3CT5G (https://datasheet.lcsc.com/lcsc/1806082 ... 172400.pdf).

Also maybe someone can explain to me how important the Ipp is and which value I should consider for the TVS-diodes according to my power input of max 5V and 2.8A.

Best,
Jonathan

The ESP32 has internal snapback devices in order to handle ESD on all pins. The external ESD protector is simply a belts-and-braces approach to make sure someone doesn't accidentally zap through the internal protections.

Ah I understand now. Thank you!

And I want to say since devkit board is mainly for develop, if you design board for products, I think you should use especial ESD diode component for USB port.
