Devkit 3.3v external power supply

I have a wrover Devkit with 3.3v external power supply, 3.3V PIN and GND are conneted to a battery module. per my understanding, LED on the board should not work cz 3.3PIN bypass AMS1117 LDO, but now I can see LED is on.
is my understanding wrong? need help!!
