Hi,
The ESP32-S3-WROOM-2-N32R8V module has PIN 41 - GND in its middle.
But in the landing pattern recommendation there are 3x3=9 square 1mm pads.
Can it be a single 4mmx4mm pad with 9 solder mask openings or it must be 9 separate pads?

Hi,
The reason for the separated pads is because of the vias. It's not recommended to add vias on the pads.
This is a recommendation, not a rule. If you respect the sizes and avoid adding vias on the pads, you can test it in your design on your own.
We recommend the separated pads, as you can see as a reference on our KiCad library here.
