What happens in Download boot mode?

I have gone through the datasheet and technical reference manual, but i am not able to find what happens when esp32 d0 or d2 goes to Download Boot mode, no flowchart is available in detail. Can anyone provide me the completed flow of what esp32 does when it is sent to Download Boot mode when downloading code through uart.
