I'm on a university rocket team and one of my projects is designing the communication system. I have decided to go with the ESP32 instead of the typical path of <GHz radio because we are planning to stream live, high res video and therefore need something with a much larger throughput. A couple of us have our HAM license and are therefore legally allowed to transmit at a significantly higher EIRP which would enable us to get our needed 10km range with 802.11.
My first question, is it possible to add an external power amplifier module to either the ipex connector or gpio, such as the CN0417 https://www.analog.com/en/design-center ... d-overview
Second question, given the lack of a duplexer, is it possible to assign a separate pin to Rx and leave the Tx on the ipex connection? Would that still require an RF switch? I'm not sure I understand the antenna diversity as stated in the documentation.
If anyone has any experience for amplifying the signals in general, I would love to hear it!
Thank you.
Is it possible to add an external power amplifier to ESP32-S2 Solo-U Dev KitC?
