ILI9481 start working issue

Postby kyrpav » Wed Feb 02, 2022 12:24 pm

Hi i am new to esp32 and completely new to lcds.

i have bought a 3.5 inches lcd with ILI9481 with FT5436 for touch from aliexpress

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001 ... mainSearch

They have given to me also some pdf with datasheet and connection pins i am attaching the files.

I am really struggling to make it work even to power the screen. I need this to work with spi .

i have used arduino code on esp and esp-idf but i could not make an library to work.I want to avoid in general arduino code at all but as a starting point i was trying to use some library. I want the project to be in esp-idf.

I can not find really which pins should be used and from what i see the D/C pin where everyone is using does not exist or it is really renamed in the lcd pinout.

Can someone help please, to fix the pin issue and the the code part in esp-idf framework?

Regards

Hi,
I'm also purchased ILI9481 with and without touch panel and facing same similar problem.
Compaired to the data sheet on Ali Express, your attached data sheet is slightly different.
But I am much confident to believe you sheet.

Pin 1-4 for touch
Pin 5 GND
Pin 6, 7 VCC 3.3V
Pin 8 (might be use with multiple display?)
Pin 9 SPI CS ; Chip Select
Pin 10 SPI DC: Command Data
Pin 11 SPI SCLK: Clock
Pin 12 VCC 3.3 to use this lcd for SPI * this is my surprise good info.
Pin 13 SPI MOSI
Pin 14 SPI MISO
Pin 15 Reset ("EN")
Pin 16 GND
Pin 17-32 GND as noted in description for pin 38-40 *this is described in different shop who sells looking same ILI9481
Pin 33 LED Anode 3.0V-3.4V so connect to 3.3V
Pin 34-36 LED Cathode so connect to GND
Pin 37 GND
Pin 38-40 all connect to 3.3V to make this lcd to run as 4 line SPI * This is also new info.

You may also search google ESP32 VSPI, then you will find which ESP32 pin should be connected to respective SPI pins.

I've not tried to new finding with your attached information, I appreciate you to share the info.
