Supported PSRAM Chips

Postby twoface262 » Wed Oct 07, 2020 5:26 pm

Hello!

What specific PSRAM chips are supported by the ESP32?

I know that the APM6404 and IPS6404 are both supported.

Are any ISSI chips supported?

Thanks!

Hi twoface,

Officially the only supported chips are ESP-PSRAM32, ESP-PSRAM64, ESP-PSRAM64H.

There are PSRAM chips available from other manufacturers that have been used in products and these appear to work fine. However guaranteeing that a particular PSRAM chip model & revision works correctly in all situations is relatively complex (there is no official standard for these), so at the moment only the Espressif-branded chips are officially supported by Espressif.

I don't know if anyone has tried to use an ISSI PSRAM chip with an ESP32. If you're developing a product then suggest contacting Espressif sales to get a price for the officially supported PSRAM in your planned quantities.
