Hello,
I am using the ESP32 for a data-intensive research instrument. Since we'll be creating about 16 MB of data per month, I am hoping to max out the ESP's support for up to four 16 MB QSPI flash, as noted in the hardware design guidelines (ressif.com/sites/default/files/documentation/esp32_hardware_design_guidelines_en.pdf). I chose a S25FL256S chip from Cypress (datasheet: http://www.cypress.com/file/448601/download) but now want to add a removable microSD as well (or even instead of the Cypress chip), so that researchers can extract it from the instrument to take home for analysis.
I'm looking at the following microSD holder: https://www.molex.com/pdm_docs/sd/472192001_sd.pdf
I'm not sure what the DAT0,1,2,3 pins are for (SD0,SD1,SD2,SD3?) and how they match up with the pins I have on my Cypress chip (photo attached).
Also, if I wanted to keep both of them, would both chips share the same CLK, CS, and SDx pins? And how would I configure the CS (chip select) pin in hardware/software?
Many thanks!
