emulate Dedicated GPIO with procedure calls for non-S2/S3?

Is there an ESPRESSIf supported or example or has someone else created aset of replacement procedures to allow code written for S2/S3 to run on other ESP32 versions to make it easier to share a common code base across a range of ESP32 versions? Would save some work...
