How to charge battery in Wemos Lolin D32

Hi everyone,

I am trying to realise a project with a WEMOS Lolin D32 battery-powered which is recharged by one USB solar panel. I bought a LiPo battery of 3.7V, connected to the JST plug into the Lolin d32 and it worked correctly in powering the board.

However, I suspect that the JST is not charging the battery while it is plugged to the 5V USB (I am trying at my home, so the solar panel is not the cause).

The CHG led does not power on while connecting the battery and the USB cable.

Furthermore, I tried to switch the two pins of the battery and now, when I plug the battery and the USB cable to the lolin board, the CHG led becomes solid red.

Of course I measure a negative voltage between the GND pin and the BAT one...

Any ideas?

FWIW, looking at the schematic, plugging in USB should charge the hardware. I imagine something is wrong with your board, and you probably did not improve things by plugging in the battery upside-down.
