Is there any provision in the ESP Touch protocol to push other arbitrary data to the device during "pairing?"
I need to push a single 16 byte value to it at the first run.

Re: TSMC managed to put antenna right into chip's package
Quite a boon if you want to export to US. The chip with built in antenna should amount to a "standalone module" for purposes of FCC certification. So you don't have to recertify every device with it.

Re: Realtime MP3 encoder 48kHz Stereo
PaulNI, no comparison, if using a dedicated encoder ASIC is an option for your project then use that. Keep in mind that these chips seem to be retiring, from a quick search, they also cost more than an entire ESP32 dev board for just the chip. Can you find a reliable supply for these? Finding relia...

Re: What would you like to see in The Next Chip?
Is there a specific reason that you want to have a 64-bit processor for embedded stuff; why would a 32-bit one not be feasible? I think that some guys don't catch the difference between embedded and "embedded", and would like to see ESP transforming into another RPi running full operating system. A...

Re: Realtime MP3 encoder 48kHz Stereo
Have anybody tried it? How does it compares to, say, VS1063 in power consumption?

Re: What would you like to see in The Next Chip?
My wish would be an MRAM (1 KByte or more). Embedded MRAM is not there yet I think. The problem with it is that you need a speciality process for it, unlike embedded SLC flash. I heard TSMC was doing trials, but no idea how it went later. Maybe you should call and ask them if they provide it on 40n...

Re: Shortage of decent monochrome display panels
You can drive single lane MIPI panels through a bridge if the panel has own framebuffer, but that was not the point I had. The point I had that there are very few monochrome panels left on the market in sizes above 5-6 inches, and that trying to drive a colour graphic panel with bridges and a lot of...

Re: Shortage of decent monochrome display panels
I would disagree with that. There are a bazillion color LCD's out there that can be driven via I2C or SPI very easily and cost very little. https://www.buydisplay.com/default/ Far from it. Ones you listed are entire display modules with own 8080 type controller. A very different thing from standalo...

Shortage of decent monochrome display panels
Hello everybody, Wanted to talk about the situation we have in the industry. With each year we have less and less cheap panels that can be directly driven by MCUs or being driven by a simple driver ICs that have connectivity options for MCUs. The shortage is especially acute in mid-size panels , and...
