Re: ESP32 stops working for no apparent reason in field

I would suspect a power supply issue with an unstable 3v3 seeing much higher spikes. There is no series diode on the input to the regulator. Use a schottky or fast recovery diode. There is no protection on the 12v. I would use a transzorb or TVS diode across the 12v supply, and include a fuse too. T...

It's free if you really need it to be, but try to pay something to Neil - there's a lot of work gone into this.

Here's the schematic and pcb. I'll try to find the firmware when I get home tonight.

Re: ESP32 on Batteries - your setup

Hi Guys, Just an update on the oil tank level monitor mentioned in an earlier post. The batteries have finally expired, they are now down from 4.5v to 3.8v and the sonar I'm using for depth sensing no longer works although it is still transmitting telemetry every hour. So that's an ESP32 + sensors r...

Re: What would you like to see in The Next Chip?

This is just speculation for the next (or a future) chip, but maybe it will have a change of processor to RISC-V.
The current Xtensa CPU is a Cadence product and both Cadence and Espressif are members of the RISC-V organisation.

Re: What would you like to see in The Next Chip?

OK. Here's something awesome for the longer term: put an FPGA on the chip! FPGA's are going to be big in the maker community in the coming years. Currently Microchip have the CLC which is of limited use. Cypress have the PSOC, but this is just used to replace the standard peripherals others include ...

Re: ESP32 and CR2032 battery

The CR2032 is not really a suitable battery. I use 3*AA batteries with a low quiescent LDO 3.3v regulator. It wakes up every hour and sends a data packet over WIFI. Its been running outside for 10 months so far and the battery volts is currently 4.2v. I'm expecting well over a years life out of this.

Here's an ESP32 die shot. https://s.zeptobars.com/esp32-HD.jpg.
Just for fun, can anyone spot the two CPU's.
