It looks like there is no point in counting on the ESP3212, and rather just focus on the ESP32(S), which actually make better sense, as one only needs a single footprint for either module.

Big customers (like AI-Thinker, the guys who make the ESP3212s) had agreements with us that we had to fulfill first, making the amount of ESP32s we could spend on our own products ...
