I figured it out. I have v1.1 of the Saola board which has the RGB led pin mapped to pin 17 not 18 like v1.2. FYI, The only documentation I can find is for the v1.2 board.

Did you get your code to work? I have V1.2, so the example code should just work for me?

That is disappointing, external CAN controller have limited throughput and are not ideal.

Some of your block diagrams show a CAN peripheral. Is this in error, planned for a future chip, or present, but not brought out to pins?

Can someone confirm that the ESP32 actually has an integral CAN controller ... the documentation to date is not consistent -- while it is shown in some diagrams, the pinouts do not document it, and certainly there is not a CAN.h stub, even.
