Re: Is the ESP32-T dev board compatible with ESP32-S module?
Ok, answering my own question here and hopefully it'll help someone else who has the same doubt: Yes, the ESP32-T development board that I described in the original post (verson 2.0) is compatible with ESP32-S module. I finally got around to soldering it and it works perfectly. Some details about as...

Re: Minimum supply voltage?
Did you try out various voltages and get an answer for this?

Re: Does the ESP-32S thermal/ground pad need paste/soldering?
Good point ! I agree the chip should not be working at 140 C. The esp32 chip is shielded in a metal housing. You will not feel the heat produced in the die on the metal housing and that metal part, which seem not to be attached to the thermal pad, already gets warm. I am reading these values with t...

Re: Does the ESP-32S thermal/ground pad need paste/soldering?
@esch_esp thank you for the detail answer. very helpful. How did you change the frequency from 80MHz to 240MHz? Is 240MHz the core and bus frequency?

Re: Does the ESP-32S thermal/ground pad need paste/soldering?
I have tested both cases. @esch_esp Thanks. Could you explain how you managed to solder it to the pcb? Also, have you tried thermal paste instead of soldering? Also, what were the conditions for testing? Could you mention what benchmark/tests you were running when measuring the temperature? And wha...

Does the ESP-32S thermal/ground pad need paste/soldering?
I bought the DIYMall ESP32 dev board: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MTQNHXV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and the ESP-32S package: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXOX8MW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The ESP-32S has a thermal/ground pad in the center. The DIY...

Re: Is the ESP32-T dev board compatible with ESP32-S module?
hmm thanks. I'll try it out and see.
by the way, do we need to solder the small square in the middle to the board? How would that be done?

Re: Is the ESP32-T dev board compatible with ESP32-S module?
Won't work But you could still use it as a programmer just put esp-32s on a different breakout board. Thanks. Do you know exactly what won't work? Will it be damaged (wrong power lines) or will some specific I/O not work? Because this page: http://esp32.net/ lists the ESP32-T as compatible with all...

ok, so to answer my Q: will ESP-32S definitely not work with this board, or it's still unknown?WiFive wrote:No esp-32s is an ai-thinker module. Ebox module is called esp32-bit
